Row 1: Sc in the second chain from the hook and across. Ch 1 and turn Row 2: SC in the BLO of every stitch across. Ch 1 and turn Repeat Row 2 until your band measures approximately 18 inches. Fold your band in half so the working side is lined up with the chain side. Sl st two ends together and turn inside out and Ch 1 Now the side of the band will become the working side and you will be working in rounds. Round 1: sc in each stitch across. Sl st into the first stitch. Change to color B and ch 1 Round 2: Sc in each stitch across. Sl st into the first stitch. Change to color C and ch 1. Round 3: sc in the first stitch, *ch 1, sk one stitch and sc into the next*. Repeat ** around. Sl st in to the first stitch. Change to color D and ch 2. Round 4: sk the first stitch and sc around the ch1 space, *ch 1, sk the sc, sc around the ch 1 space*. Repeat ** around. Sl st into the 2nd ch. change to color A and ch 1. Round 5: HDC in the same stitch and each stitch across. Change to color B and ch 1. Round 6: HDC in the BLO of every stitch. Slst in the first stitch. Change to color D and ch 1 Round 7: HDC in the BLO of every stitch. Slst in the first stitch. Change to color C and ch 1 Round 8: *Sc in the next 5 stitches, change to color A and sc in the next. Change to color C* Repeat **around. slst in the first stitch with color C, ch 1 Round 9: sc in the next 4 stitches, *change to Color A and sc in the next 3 stitches, change to color C and sc in the next 3 stitches* repeat ** around. Slst in the first stitch with color C and ch 1. Round 10: sc in the next 3 stitches *change to color A and sc in the next 5 stitches. Change to color C and sc in the next stitch*. Repeat ** around. Slst in the first stitch with color C and ch 1 Round 11: repeat round 9 Round 12: *Sc in the next 5 stitches, change to color A and sc in the next. Change to color C* Repeat **around. slst in the first stitch. Change to color D, ch 1 Round 13: HDC in each stitch around. Slst in the first stitch, change to color B and ch 1 Round 14: HDC in each stitch around. Slst in the first stitch, change to color A and ch 1 Round 15 HDC in each stitch around. Slst in the first stitch and ch 1. Repeat round 15 until your whole hat (including the band) measures approximately 7.5 inches You can easily adjust the height by adding and removing rows of HDC Finish off. Lay the hat flat and sew the top closed. Weave yarn in and out of the top corners about 2-2.5 inches from the tip and pull to "pinch" in slightly to make "ears". Tie off.
